Basic Information for attending camp

START AND END OF CAMP

On Sunday, camp begins with on-site registration from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. Cabins may not be available before 3:30 pm. A newcomer orientation is at 5:30 pm. A welcoming reception for everyone is at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner and dancing. Camp ends after breakfast the following Saturday. You must vacate your cabin by mid-morning so that it can be cleaned. After vacating your cabin, you are welcome to remain and enjoy the facilities.

Help with opening and closing camp is always appreciated; please contact Eric Wright at ithinkup@icloud.com if you can help.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

For a small donation, we are able to arrange transportation to and from the Portland airport, the Portland bus and train station, and the Conway bus stop. More information is available on the Mainewoods web site in the Transportation section.

YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS

Camp Indian Acres is comprised of a number of rustic cabins in which campers are housed, and a Main Lodge for eating, dancing, and relaxing. Each cabin has a private bathroom with shower. The cabins are not heated. The grounds include frontage on the Saco River.

STAY-OVER

Campers registered for both weeks may stay on site between sessions, however the camp is not responsible for any meals, transportation or other services between sessions. There is no extra charge for this day. Otherwise only Staff and approved volunteers are permitted on site; before, between or after sessions.

VIDEO RECORDING

Campers are requested to abstain from recording any and all teaching sessions. Staff will video all dances of those featured guests that don’t sell videos of their dances. Campers will be provided with online access, free of charge, to videos made by staff during the week.

SALES AND SILENT AUCTION

Please bring any folk or ethnic items that you think would be suitable for our fundraising sales and silent auction. Also appreciated are donations of edible treats, your services, and offers for vacation accommodation.  PLEASE DO NOT BRING SECONDHAND ITEMS THAT ARE NOT ETHNIC OR DANCE RELATED.  Whatever you bring is considered a donation and can be claimed as such on your federal income tax return.  Space permitting, we also allow campers to sell ethnic items privately.  Please let Rob McCollum know if you wish to set up a private sales area.  We ask that you donate 15% of your sales proceeds to the camp.

POLICY ON REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION

If, during camp, an attendee displays behavior that is offensive, disruptive, or dangerous to themselves or others, the Board may ask that individual to leave. Any fees they have paid will be returned, prorated for the remaining time and minus any outstanding purchases.
